World of kids: Bleach* Jnr sets up house at Robina Town Centre

Bleach* Festival comes to Robina Town Centre this year with Here I Am! an immersive play installation for kids.

Described as “the ultimate adventure for children”, this Bleach* Jnr installation invites participants to create a world they want to live in, transforming Robina Town Centre into a maze of buildings and natural environments.

Two distinct areas have been created by artists Lenine Bourke and Sue Loveday. In ‘The Neighbourhood’ installation children become urban planners, architects, designers and community builders. Meanwhile, ‘The Swamp’ has been designed as a soft natural landscape for children to play and dream of a long gone past, of creatures and nature.

Here I Am! is a highly participatory artwork, designed for maximum play, where children create the kinds of places they want to live in and adults gain a sense of how we can make our communities more child friendly.

The space can be enjoyed by audiences at any time throughout Bleach* Festival 2017, with a super cool selfie spot and chill out zone.

To experience the installations to their full extent, join the artists and facilitators themselves at a designated workshop, and escape on a down-to-earth journey of discovery and contrast that will inspire the city’s future innovators.

Bright and bold Gold Coast youngsters will uncover their sense of exploration in an amazing artistic play space where the urban and the outdoors collide at Here I Am!.

“The ultimate discovery playground for children, participants will be able to pinpoint where they are, where they’ve come from and the kind of community that they want to create in the future,” says Bleach* Festival director Louise Bezzina.

“It’s exciting to see the evolution of Bleach* JNR and to have its home at Robina Town Centre, a place where many Gold Coast families gather, is a fantastic opportunity. This playful and colourful creation will be unlike anyother children’s program ever experienced on the Gold Coast.”

Facilitated workshops runs each day at 9.00am and 1.00pm. Here I Am! runs until 16 April 2017.
