Shakafest final artist announcement: Six new artists added to epic lineup

Proving to be its biggest year yet, Shakafest today announce six new artists to an already gnarly lineup at Broadwater Parklands. Headlined by Bliss N EsoLast DinosaursFrenzal Rhomb and Alex The Astronaut, Shakafest has quickly become one of the city’s favourite festies, representing all genres of music, skateboarding and surf culture alike.

Mandurah’s answer to the surf rock craze, Good Doogs (pictured) lead the announcement. Making waves with their infectious, fuzzy, punk rock sound, they’ve received huge praise from triple j and triple j Unearthed with their tunes ‘So Dumb’ and ‘Nothing To Do’. Tearing it up alongside are Canberra’s Moaning Lisa. Another fan favourite tipped to blow, the female fronted four-piece tow the line between indie, grunge and alt-rock and have shot to the forefront with their tracks ‘Carrie (I Want A Girl)’ and ‘Good’ from their upcoming EP. It’s been a huge year for both acts, each performing at Groovin’ The Moo and more recently, BIGSOUND. Paddling ashore to Shakafest, this is a rare opportunity to see these buzzing acts hang loose before the big time!

Also dropping into the Rabbit Stage presented by Rabbit Radio, Melbourne’s indie pop dreamers IV League who are also fresh from BIGSOUND, psych rockers Sunrose, Byron Bay’s latest garage rock trio Flying Machine. Opening the main stage are Gold Coast hip-hop duo Emph N Treats.

Frothin’ skaters for the second year running, Dickies are jumping back on their boards as the official sponsored partner of Shakafest’s notorious skate ramp. The half pipe will also feature showcases from professional and amateur skateboarders to be announced soon.

Following the festival’s move from their home at The Miami Tavern to the bangin’ open Broadwater Parklands, Shakafest is now offering day bus tickets to patrons looking to commute on public transport. For $10 gig goers can buy a return bus ticket online (via Oztix) or in person at Miami Tavern to ride to-and-from the two venues, essential for those looking to keep the party going at Shakafest’s infamous afterparty after a big day of shredding.

No matter what the punters steeze,  Shakafest is the crowd! Get loose, get rowdy, get absolutely stoked at Gold Coast’s Broadwater Parklands, Saturday 24 November. Tickets on sale now via Oztix. Get amongst it.
