Logan Live Originals Series | Live review and gallery | Saturday 20 November 2021

Woodridge Adventure Park came alive with original tunes by a lineup of incredible local talent for the first of this year’s Logan Live Originals Series.

The hip-hop themed event, run by Logan City Council, saw both emerging and established artists crossed the stage to an appreciative Logan crowd, against a backdrop of awesome skate tricks. The Blank team was in attendance, launching our first ever Logan edition of our street press. You can read it here.

Livestreamed for home audiences, the Logan Live Originals hip hop night featured an impressive lineup of rap and RnB artists with some cool island vibes, soul, beatboxing and spoken word thrown in for good measure, with artists being interviewed post-set by Blank’s own Logan writer and local vampire author Belinda Topan.

Emerging artist Terry Illicit warmed up the crowd at the start before Gold Coast rapper MAD and her wicked braids took to the stage, bringing up her mate Billy Risk for a couple of tracks, before Thane Poloai, support worker at The Street University and mentor to both MAD and Terry, got up and spoke about the awesome work they do with local youth and trotted out a couple of his own bangers.

Lightskin Jonas brought the thunder with his dark, hard-hitting beats, welcoming a delighted fan onto the stage to show off his moves. Multi-talented, genre-hopping Mike Mike of East Coast Alien spat his lyrics at the speed of light, before headliners Beauty & The Beats finished the night on a high note with their distinctive sounds and soulful grooves, featuring the extraordinary beatboxing skills of Hope One and the dulcet tones of Lana Tukaroa, who had the crowds in goosebumps with her spoken word piece about her multiple heart surgeries and near-death experiences.

With talent like this within the region, you’d better watch this space for more news.

Logan Live Originals Series continues on 4 December at Beenleigh Town Square for a Folk and Country Night, and 11 December at Logan West Community Centre for a Rock and Punk night. For more, visit loganlive.com.au.
