Some good news and some bad news from the St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival came through this morning. International crooner Tobias Jesso Jr. has been forced to cancel to entire Australian tour with Royal Headache now set to replace.
Organisers behind the annual festival stated that Jesso Jr. was unable to perform at the 2016 edition, “due to conflicting commitments with his songwriting and recording obligations.”
Jesso Jr. also released a statement this morning saying, “I’m sorry to let anyone down, and appreciate all of your love, support, and understanding.”
In addition to the five festival dates of the Laneway Festival circuit, Jesso Jr. was set to play a handful of sideshows during his time in the country which included a Sydney and Melbourne date. Tickets to these shows will be refunded through point of purchase.
To ease the headache of losing one of the festival’s top billers, Sydney punks Royal Headache have been brought in to fill Jesso Jr.’s giant footstep. Set to fill in for all Australian dates of Laneway Festival, the band released their second album High this year and are known for raucous, energetic shows.
Laneway will kick off in Singapore at the end of January before making its way to New Zealand and then to Oz. METZ, Grimes, Hudson Mohawke, Battle, Flume and many more are all set to play.
