Gold Coast set to host a unique mash up festival that’s all about punk rock and action sports

Adrenaline-pumping new all-ages music and action sports event Inverted Festival has recently been announced at Metricon Stadium for May next year.

Inverted Festival will feature the perfect mash up of Aussie punk rock and action sports athletes, coming together for a new all-ages festival at Metricon Stadium on the Gold Coast on Saturday 1 May 2021.

Celebrating the cultural cornerstones of punk-rock, skate, FMX and BMX, Inverted Festival will feature contemporary and heritage Aussie artists; in a one-day event sure to rekindle some memories – and create plenty of new ones – for lifelong fans and younger generations alike.

Australia’s most exciting punk-rock bands, including one of Australia’s most loved heritage acts will descend on the Gold Coast to dazzle fans in a high-energy performance on one main stage.  Joining the line-up are Skeggs, Spiderbait, The Chats, Trophy Eyes, WAAX, Stand Atlantic and Fangz.

Skegss frontman Ben Read said: “We’re pumped to get back on stage and perform in front of a huge festival crowd once again.  Inverted Festival will be the first of its kind in Australia, and we’re stoked to be on the line-up next to our best homegrown Aussie talent.”

Inverted Festival is whippin’ up much more than music with over 20 of Australia’s most exciting action sports athletes, landing the world’s most dangerous tricks, competing in Street Skate, BMX Park, BMX Big Air and Freestyle Motocross.  An array of world class and Olympic action sports athletes will go head-to-head including Josh Sheehan, Jackson Strong, Harry Bing, Hayley Wilson, Matt Whyatt and more.

Six-time X Games Best Trick gold medallist Jackson Strong said: “We haven’t been able to compete in almost a year due to Covid restrictions and we’re stinging to get back out there and rip in for fans.  The competition at Inverted Festival is going to be fierce, with the world’s best action sports athletes going head-to-head and I can’t wait to get out to be a part of it.”

In fantastic news for fans of live music, Second Sunday and TEG Van Egmond have teamed up with Major Events Gold Coast to present the COVID Safe event at Metricon Stadium for more than 20,000 fans. While operating at reduced capacity, Inverted Festival will mark the largest stadium music event on the Gold Coast since the shutdown of the live entertainment industry, due to the pandemic.
