How to party after the after party: GCMAs 2021

With the Gold Coast Music Awards (GCMAs) celebrating all things #goldcoastmusic this Saturday 4 September, we thought we’d take a look at where you can continue on in the same vein once the official part of the day is done.

So by now we all know there’s a bangin’ after party happening at the HOTA Lawn Bar, following the closure of the GCMA official awards ceremony. Kicking off at 3.30pm, the celebration will feature sets by locals DJ KLSY and GCMA finalist daste. And of course, free-flowing drinks and plenty of merriment shall abound, too. But what happens after the after party? The after after party of course! Here’s where you can kick on after things wrap up, while still celebrating Gold Coast venues and the local music scene. Take your pick:

The Wallaby Hotel is featuring a talented up and coming Gold Coast originals acts Hannah May at 6pm and Richard Neill at 7.30pm. These folks will be followed by one of the GC’s best cover bands, Alter Egos, at 9pm. The Wallaby team will even be running their courtesy bus directly from HOTA to the venue following the after party, for any awards guests who want to jump on.

Miami Marketta is dishing up some fabulous free Saturday night fare on its weekend stage, in the form of Birren at 5pm and them Oskar Campbell at 7.30pm, while at their Studio56, singer-songwriter duo Gaudion & Lemaire will be playing a ticketed event. Leave yourself plenty of time to stroll through the markets and grab some tasty dinner, too.

Currumbin RSL has local solo artist Tahlia Matheson serenading diners on the beautiful riverside deck from 5pm to 8pm then Hammer & Thongs will be rocking the Lounge Bar from 8pm to midnight.

elsewhere has a lineup for the party-hardy crew, with Gold Coast acts SAMIN & GIV keeping the good vibes going from 9pm to 3.30am. If you make it that late after a midday start, you’re our hero.

Mo’s Desert Clubhouse is celebrating its second birthday this weekend! The Saturday night shenanigans are sold out, unfortunately, but if you’re keen to keep kicking on over Sunday, they’ve got Nice Biscuit playing an awesome recovery sesh.

Vinnies Dive have, as always, a kick-arse lineup of noise for all the hard rockers out there on Saturday night, this weekend featuring knuckle-dragging hardcore Brisbane punk band The Meat, with Disaphyxiate + NCA + Blindside.

No excuses not to #supportlocal this weekend.
