Made In Gold Coast Labeling Unites City’s Media, Entertainment and Digital Industry.
With the hugely successful inaugural GCMAs only just behind us, where do we go from here to unite the dedication of Gold Coasters working in the media and entertainment and tech industry? In 2012 New York City had ambition to do just that. The goal? Simple: to be home to the most innovative creators and makers in the world.
Like your pair of Italian boots, Made in “X” represents not only quality, but also prestige and provenance. Moreover, a lot of us also care about the ethical aspects of manufacturing.
“Made In NY” has brought with it financing opportunities, workforce training, competitions and awards and much more – answering the call for pathways to breaking into the industry. And it’s not just media and entertainment that could use the boost. “Made in NY” has this year expanded to food service and fashion. To meet the criteria and carry the mark, one or more fashion products must be designed, cut, sewn, assembled, and finished in the city and they must be headquartered here.
While we can’t yet say that the Gold Coast has a long history of embracing artists and creatives, in 2015 creators are part of what makes this city so unique and the timing couldn’t be better for a little more recognition.
