When Sydney band VanderAa hit the Gold Coast they’ll be bringing Darwinites Bear Essence with them. And Gold Coaster Ella Fence has also scored a support slot.
“From playing guitars around campfires, cruising the beaches, swimming in the ocean, drinking beers and not wanting to come back to the real world,” explains Levi VanderAa of the song. “It’s a song that defines our spirited and adventurous nature,” adds Aaron VanderAa.
They’re describing what they’re hoping will be a summer anthem: Sunlovers St
The title for the track evolving from a street sign at the caravan park they were accommodating in which resulted in a full on sing-a-long within the park. “It really defined our Summer of 2013,” says Levi.
Having performed alongside the likes of The Living End, The Cat Empire, Sneaky Sound System, Jet, Eskimo Joe and more recently San Cisco, the brothers encapsulate the young, hot, fun culture that they grew up with in their native Northern Territory and carry the summer loving guitar riffs that are making enough swells to surf on.
Ella Fence is no shrinking violet either, about to release tracks produced by Ken Stringfellow of REM fame.
Catch all three acts at Malibu Bar, Miami Tavern on Friday 12 December.
