Buskers By The Creek organisers are promising glitz and glam alongside vivacious energy and one hell of a party when their fifth annual festival rolls into Currumbin this October.
More than 300 performers are set to entertain Creekside and organisers are asking punters to step-up and be part of the spectacle with fancy dress encouraged.
The first line-up announcement is due to drop in coming weeks, but we’ve already been sent a few teasers. We can report that Amsterdam’s renowned juggler, Michiel Hesseling and his side-kick clown, Jean-Michel will be landing in Currumbin to dish up a number of shows as part of The Flying Dutchmen’s 30 year anniversary world tour. You heard right. This guy has been juggling his way around the world for 30 years and you can see him right on the creek at Currumbin thanks to Buskers by the Creek. For free!
Joining him will be New Zealand’s piano busker, AJ Hickling, who makes ends meet by playing music on the streets. He’ll be mesmerising audiences with his deep, soulful and cross-cultural musical tapestries come October.
And if you’re sitting there thinking, I could totally do that, then go ahead. It’s not too late to throw your hat in the ring. Applications to perform are open until the middle of august.
We’re also excited to reveal that the prestigious Battle of the Buskers is back for 2018, kicking off festivities on Friday 12 October with a special ticketed event ‘Bloca at Boatshed’ also being introduced for the first time on Saturday 13 October. Bloca will see exotic fire dancing and drumming with authentic Brazillian fare and Chandon S cheers with a salsa king and queen also crowned on the night.
Blank Gold Coast is proud to be a partner for Buskers by the Creek for the fifth consecutive year, joining forces with Coast Creek Country Realty, City of Gold Coast, Cr Gail O’Neill, Cr Daphne McDonald, Southern Gold Coast, Stone & Wood Brewing, Sailor Jerry, Chandon S, Gold Coast Graphic Design, Stick it Signs and Gold Coast Barges to make the event possible.
