Bond Students host charity concert to support education in Africa

Event Management Students at BOND University are hosting a charity concert they’re calling ‘Elimu’ (meaning ‘education’ in Swahili) in the ADCO Amphitheatre on campus in March, in support of local social enterprise Nice Coffee Co.

Nice Coffee Co is a Gold Coast based business with one inspiring goal, to tackle poverty in Kenya. With 100% of their profit going towards providing access to education in the Kibera Slum in Nairobi, this project sells their perfectly roasted coffee to caffeine lovers all over Australia.

Owner of Nice Coffee Co, Jim Chapman, started the company at the beginning of last year.

“We supply coffee and machines to offices and organisations around Australia – helping them make a positive impact with every cup,” he explains. “Through our coffee sales from last year we were able to rebuild St Johns School in Kibera, which was closed due to poor infrastructure.”

Elimu promises a night of music, food and culture in support of a great cause. Attendees will enjoy wood-fired pizza while listening to live music from local artists including Ollie Smart, Lily Grace Live, The Mundays, Sundaze Band and Karamilk.

“We are very excited for Elimu concert, and hope to see many people from the Gold Coast community attend,” says Jim.

“It’s a great way to get together, enjoy some local talent whilst supporting education in very poor regions like Kibera. We’ll be bringing our coffee van so make sure you give our coffee a try!”

Tickets are just $5 + BF over at Eventbrite. Check out Elimu at Bond University on Sunday 15 March from 5pm to 8pm.
