The diverse and rapidly burgeoning Gold Coast music scene has received another massive endorsement with the announcement that talented Gold Coast songstress Amy Shark has been nominated in a whopping six individual categories for the 2017 ARIA Awards.
The achievement is the culmination of a whirlwind 18 months for the local singer-songwriter. At the start of the year she came in at number two in this year’s Triple J Hottest 100 for her song ‘Adore.’ Signing a worldwide record deal with Sony and performing at a bunch of sold out headlining shows and festivals throughout the country saw her take her music to the masses. She also took out both Artist of the Year and Song of the Year at the Gold Coast Music Awards.
Her talent and achievements have seen Amy recognised by the Australian Music industry, receiving nominations in the following categories:
Best Pop Release: for ‘Night Thinker’
Best Video: for ‘Drive You Mad’
Best Female Artist: for ‘Night Thinker’
Apple Music Song of the Year: for ‘Adore’
Apple Music Album of the Year: for ‘Night Thinker’
Other artists to score big in the nomination stakes this year include Sydney rockers Gang Of Youths, indigenous hip hop duo A.B Original, evergreen singer/songwriter Paul Kelly, rapper Illy and songstress Jessica Mouboy.
While the competition to take out individual honours across these diverse range of categories is red hot, Amy will no doubt represent with panache and the Gold Coast can be mighty proud of everything she has achieved so far.
We can’t wait to see how she goes, so be sure to tune into Channel 9 for their live broadcast of the 2017 ARIA Awards on Tuesday, 28 November.
